Messi doesn't seem to trust Griezmann I gave him the benefit of the doubt in the first half thinking it maybe coz of grizi playing on the right today but as soon as sergi came on i saw him passing to him on the right flank very often Something is definitely wrong.

Semedo is really showing that he can handle the entire side

Good game. We were a bit more straight forward, less meaningless passing. Also a good game individually for many players. We looked like a team and not FC Messi.
Defense was bad once again and we should’ve finished our chances better. The last minutes gave me PTSD but overall we improved from Valencia, so that’s good.

I'm seeing some new things, most notably how Ter-Stegen keeps the ball for as long as he needs to, to pull players out of position and make space to get out of our third(which is what we suffered from in the past 3 games under Setien).
If anything this shows me creativity and an acknowledgement to a problem and a solution, I'm extremely happy and optimistic.

First, great first half from Barça. Setién managed to instruct the players how they need to act when they get pressured by the opposing team. Piqué and Lenglet close to Marc when he has the ball, and Busi always moving to be the first receiver while Rakitić and De Jong constantly move so they can receive moving forward and have direct passes to the wings or Messi. Great execution.
Second, good Ansu Fati, he has so much security on the pitch for a 17 year old, but most importantly, great Antoine Griezmann. His movement off the ball gave so much space for Messi and Fati. Even though he missed some chances, without his constant movement and runs, both goals would not have happened. And Messi, well, you know... That pass to Fati on the second goal, unbelievable.
Third, this team still is lacking when substitutes come to the pitch. Especially Arthur Melo. I don't mind when players come to the pitch and miss a pass but when a player does not have a good energy, well, it will be more difficult for them to have a place on the starting 11 or even have a good form.
Honorable mentions: Setién and Semedo. I can see that the team dynamic is changing, which is good. I always say that a good manager gets the most of all its players, which end up being a good team or squad and that is where Semedo comes on. Semedo has been REALLY good all around, but most importantly, all of his qualities were shown in 45 minutes. For me, a coach that can make a player show this is pretty important.
Cheers to Levante because they played a really good game, and, contrary to what some people think in this sub, they are not an easy team (we lost to them on the first half of the tournament 3-1).

Our Distance Covered was 103 KM. I remember that under Valverde we usually were at 95 or 96. It's good to see that the team is pressing and running better.

Amazing 1st half, terrible 2nd half. Very happy that Setien has decided to put Ansu back at LW and Griez on RW. The dynamic is much better and I can’t wait to see Dembele with that role given the space Ansu and Griezmann are having out wide. Messi with some insane stats (7 key passes for example) but he can do much better than this in terms of overall performance. Losing the ball 22 times can’t happen vs teams like Liverpool, Dortmund, PSG, where you get punished hard on the counter.

Lots of positives, but lots of negatives too. To point out the few negatives I've noticed:
1) There's something between Messi and Griezmann. I've seen points where he definitely could have passed to Grizzy, but he chooses to not and cuts in for a shot. It's happened several times over now, and it bothers me that Messi does something like this. Hopefully, whatever issues lie between them get resolved because it's affecting the team, and I feel it affects Griezmann's confidence too.
2) The team CAN NOT afford to take their foot off the pedal, even in later stages of the game. It took us 2 minutes to score 2 goals, it could take them the same. Facing a side like Liverpool, City, Real would be tough with this.
3) Defense has been stable, but lots of errors. I'm not complaining but Quique must have some sort of plan in mind.
The first issue bothers me way too much (I personally love Grizzy as a player and feel he adds so much dynamic to the team)

Biggest obstacle has to be Barca's scouting, wasting more than 250 million euros on two mediocre players. 250 million euros on two players!! Barça could have bought both Bruno Fernandes (play on 8) AND Hakim Ziyech ( can play on 7, 11, 10 and even 8, so he doesn't have to occupy Messi's space) for less than 90 million euros and these players are in their prime!! These guys are assist machines and they can score goals.
Truly awful scouting.

Downvote me to oblivion, i just don’t care anymore.
For those who preach “being progressive” and “looking forward”.. this is literally dumb as hell.. Real Madrid had zidane who they knew is a good coach, they did the obvious and brought him back. Barcelona know that pep guardiola is out there yet they don’t bring him back due to a petty power trip. It’s clear which strategy is better :)
The other reason pep won’t come back might be because he doesn’t want to jeopardize his legacy, in which case he is a coward. Zidane had won 3 back-to back-to back champions leagues and still was brave enough to come back to a real without ronaldo, and managed to win the league.
And for those who say xavi.. i bet you that if xavi were to manage barcelona after elections, let alone next season, he will be a failure. He doesn’t have enough experience, and he’s not the first one to fail.. we all saw henry fail this season. You have to manage in Europe before taking a job such as the barca job, at a time such as the post messi era.
It’s either pep or AC Milan.

Relegated Players: Cheaper Transfer Options?

This post has nothing to do with various transfer rumours floating about, it's just a fun exercise in analysing players who could be available at knockdown prices from the 3 relegated clubs in the PL, with a couple from elsewhere in Europe. Let me know your thoughts on any of the below or any other options I chose not to discuss and how they might or might not fit into our squad.
Norwich City
Norwich earned plaudits after gaining promotion with a team containing a few promising academy products. If those young players choose to continue their development at Norwich and they can keep the core of their team together they could do what Burnley have done in recent seasons by coming straight back up and securing some form of stability for a few seasons.
Watford
After reaching an FA Cup Final last season, only to be demolished 6-0 by Man City, Watford seem to have been scarred by the experience. An 8-0 loss at the Etihad in September was followed up by a 4-0 loss which set them up for relegation. A club with trigger happy owners, they have gone through 6 permanent managers during their 5 season stay in the Premier League.
Bournemouth
After failing to fix their defensive frailties, Bournemouth have instead blamed their relegation on Hawkeye not working in Sheffield United vs Aston Villa. Eddie Howe has earned plaudits for taking the club from League Two to the Premier League and surviving for 5 seasons with a smaller club with a small stadium and limited resources. Bournemouth have played some good football and earned some great results during their time in the PL, putting up the best fight to beat the drop post-lockdown of the 3 relegated clubs.

[Translation] Which La Liga club fits each Premier League team?

Good morning lads and lassies of soccer. To celebrate that the Bundesliga finally comes back I bring you the transcripton/translation of a pretty interesting video I had watched some time ago, related (and literally titled) "Which La Liga team fits each team of the Premier League?"
Now, I know the issue about fans that have simpathy for "second" teams is polarizing and as we all know after last year, it can become something completely vomitive, but this video is indeed trying to give fans of Spanish clubs reasons to like a particular English club, and with that said, tbh I believe at the end of the day most fans, plastic or not, do feel at least some simpathy for some clubs above others excluding their own. From the small town fan who supports their local club but also the "big" team that challenges for the league in the top division, to the Ultra that hates every club of their country that isn't his but do likes a foreign club of which he befriended their respective Ultras in the past, I'm pretty sure that most football fans do feel at least a bit of simpathy for some particular club of a foreign league.
But well, that discussion shouldn't be the topic of this. The fact is that these Spaniards of the video do like particular English clubs and to guide other similar Spaniards analyzed the situation and created this "guidebook" about which Premier League club "currently" fits each La Liga club, and that is what will be shown here.
With a last emphasis in the "currently", there's nothing else to say as preview. Just remember that these aren't my opinions and I'm only sharing what they decided.

Newcastle United & Athletic Club

Crystal Palace & Getafe

Liverpool & Real Madrid

Norwich & Valladolid

Bournemouth & Eibar

Burnley & Alaves

Sheffield United & Mallorca

Brighton & Levante

Leicester & Villarreal

Southampton & Leganés

Watford & Granada

Chelsea & Atletico Madrid

Tottenham & Sevilla

Manchester United & Valencia

Everton & Real Sociedad

Manchester City & Barcelona

West Ham & Espanyol

Wolves & Real Betis

Aston Villa & Celta de Vigo

Arsenal & Osasuna

*and that's it. Hope that you liked it as I did. Do you have any opinions about how to make this even more accurate? feel free to share them.

Haters Guide to the 2020-21 Champions League Group Stage!

What? The Champions League is back already? Oh yeah, COVID messed up every schedule ever. It's already half way through October ffs. Okay, well let’s get this group draw out of the way, and see how it went.
For those of you who don’t know, each team that is eligible to play in this tournament of Champions from most of Europe’s leagues (including the top 4 finishers from Europe’s GOOD football leagues,) is placed in a "pot" based on seeding on how good their team is and then placed into a group. 32 teams are divided into groups of 4, the top two teams in each group after a 6 game round robin move on to the knockout stage. Meanwhile, third-place finishers go to the NIT of European football, the Europa League. For fourth place, it’s unit lost, season over. Simple enough? Right, let’s begin and see who's in each group!

GROUP A: Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Lokomotiv Moscow, Red Bull Salzburg
A relatively simple group to predict to begin.12 easy points for Bayern and Atletico, and then they can rotate and rest in their respective games. Nothing really special here, Salzburg did well last year but they had Norweigan wonderkid Erling Haaland. They don’t anymore. Lokomotiv Moscow should look on the bright side, at least they’ll probably make the Europa League.

GROUP B: Real Madrid, Inter, Borussia M’Gladbach, Shaktar Donetsk
This is what you call a group of death. Real Madrid is a lock for that first UCL spot, leaving Inter Gladbach and Shaktar to fight for three cookies on the kitchen table. We will see a UEL Semi-Final rematch here, hopefully Shaktar doesn’t lose 5-0 again to Inter? Borussia could prove to be a surprise, but I think they'll sadly finish 4th.

GROUP C: Man City, Olympiacos, Marsielle, Porto
Oh boy, Man City’s 18 point shopping spree! The best part of every Champions League. Damnit, can City get any real group stage opponents? Please? Anyway, Porto is going to probably be the team to escape the rest of this actually challenging group, and Marsielle will probably drop to the Europa league. This year Arsenal will avoid being haunted by Olympiacos now!

GROUP D: Ajax, Atalanta, Liverpool, Midtjylland
This is actually a fun group! If Liverpool missing Alisson doesn’t hurt them that badly, they should be through easily. But a 7-2 loss to Villa? Jeez, playing like that vs. Atalanta is asking for a 10-0 trashing, and they have nearly done that before in Serie A! If Liverpool go through, I think Atalanta join them, with Ajax going to the Europa league. It’s a challenging group, and sadly the Danish side Midtjylland will end up dead last, and be lucky to get a single point.

GROUP E: Chelsea, Krasnodar, Rennes, Sevilla
A very interesting group indeed. First off, condolences to Krasnodar, they’re going to have a bad time. Chelsea and Sevilla should make it to the next round, unless Lopetegui decides Europa League is cooler and gives Rennes a chance to die in the Round of 16. Chelsea are a dark horse candidate for a late UCL run as the team gets used to playing with each other, and a easier group helps them short term.

GROUP F: Dortmund, Club Brugge, Lazio, Zenit
Another good group. This one will be easily own by Dortmund and Lazio, although Zenit could prove to be a challenge in some cases! Nothing really notable, but once again Club Brugge will struggle. Poor guys, they deserve a slightly easier group.

GROUP G: FC Barcelona, Dynamo Kyiv, Ferenvacos, Juventus
“Congrats Ferenvacos, you made it to the UCL! Against all odds, you’ve made the group stage of the biggest tournament in Europe! Your reward: TO FACE MESSI AND RONALDO TWICE! GET FUCKED, AND FUCK OFF BACK TO HUNGARY, ONLY REAL TEAMS BELONG HERE!” - UEFA probably
Oh boy, what a fun group. Messi and Ronaldo facing each other twice once again...unless Ronaldo misses more time due to Covid. Were international games really worth it? Honestly, they probably should be postponed until the pandemic really cools down. Anyway, Juve and Barcelona will easily escape this group, and I bet Kyiv gets 3rd. The Hungarian side could pull off some upsets, but don’t expect too much, you'll just be disappointed.

GROUP H: PSG, Leipzig, Istanbul Basaksehir, Man United
HAHAHA, MAN UNITED ACTUALLY THOUGHT THEY COULD MAKE A UCL RUN THIS YEAR AHHAHAHAHA, OK BOYS, YOU GET THE GROUP OF DEATH, PSG AND LEIPZIG! HAHAHA! YOU WON’T EVEN MAKE IT OUT OF THE GROUP! Oh boy! I had a great laugh with that one. United you are absolutely fucked in this group. You will have a rough time beating PSG and Leipzig in the group, especially when you are struggling in the Prem, and still have bad owners and a bad manager. Leipzig without Werner made the UCL Semi-Final, losing to fellow group members PSG who made the UCL final. The duo should exit the group, but United will be close and right behind, having another Europa League campaign with a 3rd place finish. Sorry Istanbul, your Turkish comrades laugh as you constantly get pounded in this group of death.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you all when arguably a few of my predictions go tits up, and we can then see how the Round of 16 and further on go! 6 more days until the UCL is back! Woohoo!

Some obscure facts for liverpool fans,Whats you thoughts?

The first ever game shown on Match of the Day was Liverpool vs Arsenal in August 1964. Liverpool also featured in the first-ever game televised in colour when they took on West Ham in November 1969.
Kenny Dalglish was the first ever player-manager in professional English football(div 1). Not a bad appointment: during his five-year stint the club as player manager won the league three times and the FA Cup twice.
Anfield was named after the Irish town of Annefield in Wexford, by the then Irish mayor of Liverpool who bought the land where the stadium now sits. The Kop is named after the Spion Kop, a hill in South Africa where many local soldiers died in the Boer War.
At its peak, the Kop could hold 30,000 spectators – all standing. Today it holds just under 12,500 seated.
The famous ‘THIS IS ANFIELD’ sign was erected by Bill Shankly to instil fear in the opposition players. Current Liverpool players are forbidden to touch the sign by coach Jurgen Klopp until the club wins a trophy. They can now !
A 1915 fixture between Liverpool and Manchester United was rigged for United to win 2-0. 4 Liverpool and 4 Manchester players were banned for life when the betting scandal was uncovered.
One of Liverpool’s least successful transfers was that of Danish keeper Michael stamsgaard He somehow managed to dislocate his shoulder while setting up an ironing board and was never able to play a game for the club as a result.
Xavi Alonso held the record for longest Premier League goal by an outfield player (63 yards against Newcastle) until former Red Charlie Adam popped one in from 66 yards when playing for Stoke against Chelsea.
Liverpool has been involved in numerous English record transfers: Keegan to Hamburg for £500K; Rush to Juventus for £3.2M; Collymore from Forest for £8.5M and most recently Coutinho to Barcelona for £105M.

UEFA: "Barcelona 2-8 Bayern: record-breaking win for rampant Germans."

Hans-Dieter Flick's irresistible side became the first ever to score eight in a UEFA Champions League knockout match as they blew away the five-time winners in Lisbon.
Thomas Müller gave Bayern the lead after beautifully exchanging passes with Robert Lewandowski but that was quickly cancelled out when David Alaba sliced Jordi Alba's cross into his own net. Lionel Messi hit a post but Barcelona then wilted under a ten-minute onslaught.
Serge Gnabry robbed Sergi Roberto and teed up Ivan Perišić for Bayern's second and the floodgates opened. Gnabry himself added the third and Müller turned in Joshua Kimmich's cross to make it four in the 31st minute
Luis Suárez reduced arrears but that only disturbed the hornets' nest again, Kimmich making it 5-2 following a dazzling run by Alphonso Davies. Lewandowski's 14th goal of their European campaign and a late Philippe Coutinho double against his parent club sealed a landmark victory.
Man of the Match: Thomas Müller. "Müller takes the award because he scored two goals, found space between the lines, worked hard defensively. Good attitude. A leader out on the pitch."

The Guardian: "Bayern Munich deliver Champions League demolition of dismal Barcelona" by Jacob Steinberg

It was hard to believe that teams once tried to play like Barcelona. Not any more. Their football is stale, their soul has disappeared and too many players have seen better days. They are a shadow of their former selves and although it is impossible to envisage Quique Setién ever managing them again after overseeing a historic humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich, the harsh reality is that Barcelona’s malaise extends much further than the dugout.
History will not be kind to the people who make the decisions at the Camp Nou. They deserve nothing but scorn for squandering Lionel Messi’s talent. Five years have passed since Messi last won the Champions League and it has reached the stage where he might have to do the unthinkable and leave Barcelona, who are rudderless off the pitch and lethargic on it.
Barcelona are a mess under the watch of their deeply unpopular president, Josep Bartomeu, who must accept a large portion of the blame after witnessing yet another pathetic exit in the knockout stages. In 2018 Barcelona contrived to lose a 4-1 first-leg lead Roma in the last eight. Last year Liverpool overturned a 3-0 deficit to reach the final. But this was worse. Barcelona were gutless. They have misplaced their identity and could not even perform the basics. There was no heart and in the end they were fortunate that Bayern, who will face Manchester City or Lyon in the last four, did not reach double figures.
Even Messi’s head dropped. He was strolling as Bayern, hungry to lift win this competition for the first time in seven years, rampaged forward. The end of an era is approaching and Barcelona’s decline was epitomised by Messi losing the ball before Philippe Coutinho scored the first of his two goals.
It was the cruellest of ironies that Coutinho, signed for £105m from Liverpool in January 2018, rubbed salt in Barcelona’s wounds. The Brazilian, who was loaned out last summer after a difficult spell in Spain, must have been glad to be wearing Bayern’s colours. Playing in a cohesive unit, Coutinho had fun against his parent club, creating Robert Lewandowski’s goal shortly after coming off the bench and walking through to make it 8-2 in the last minute.
Coutinho was not the only symbol of Barcelona’s flawed recruitment. Ousmane Dembélé, bought from Borussia Dortmund when Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain three years ago, was on the bench and there was no place in the starting lineup for Antoine Griezmann, who has failed to hold down a place in attack since signing from Atletico Madrid last year.
Too many buys have backfired. Frenkie De Jong, who helped Ajax reach the semi-finals last season, has struggled to lift the midfield and too many of the old guard have not been replaced. Given that Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué are the wrong side of 30, it is not a surprise that Barcelona are so slow.
Messi’s characterisation of a weak team who shrink when confronted by intensity is spot on. Barcelona were beautiful on the ball but painfully brittle without it, and they conceded from Bayern’s first proper attack. There were four minutes on the clock when Ivan Perisic, breaking into space vacated by Nelson Semedo on the left, found Thomas Müller, who exchanged a volleyed one-two with Lewandowski before firing beyond Marc-André ter Stegen.
At least there was a brief response from Barcelona. Setien’s decision to drop Griezmann and switch to a 4-4-2 system unsettled Bayern at first and there was hope for Barcelona when Messi was on the ball. Barcelona targeted Bayern’s high line and they equalised after seven minutes. A long ball released Jordi Alba, who hurtled behind Joshua Kimmich on the left and crossed for Suárez. David Alaba moved in to intervene, only to slice into his own goal.
Suddenly Barcelona were alive. Suárez, released by Nelson Semedo, just failed to lift a dink over Manuel Neuer. Messi saw an inswinging cross hit the inside of the post. Then he shot too close to Neuer after dribbling in from the right.
Yet Barcelona never convinced at the back. Lewandowski sent a warning shot over and the German champions regained the lead when they pressed Barcelona. Sergi Roberto dithered and Serge Gnabry pounced, robbing the midfielder and releasing Perisic, who drove in a low shot with his left foot.
Barcelona collapsed. Leon Goretzka lifted a clever pass over the top for Gnabry, who finished confidently. After 31 minutes Kimmich joined in an attack and crossed for Müller, whose second goal of the night all but killed the game as a contest.
The strange thing was that Bayern, chasing a treble, were not flawless. Their defence was vulnerable and Barcelona, who threw on Griezmann at half-time, pulled one back when Suárez beat Jérôme Boateng before finishing well.
Yet there was no way back for Barcelona. Six minutes later Alphonso Davies, Bayern’s wonderful left-back, surged into the area after duping Semedo. Piqué, a centre-back whose powers have waned, froze as Davies gave Kimmich an open goal.
With 15 minutes left Bayern sent on Coutinho. Barcelona’s misery was not over yet. They have let Messi down.

MARCA: "An unparalleled humiliation for Barcelona" by Fernando Carnenero

Barça's ends an empty season and receiving the biggest beating in its history in Europe. Time to reflect, look at the wallet and see what can be done. A staff that is becoming older, not well-off but with vices, that needs an urgent change. And perhaps on all fronts because last year's management is something to be analysed.
A change of manager difficult to explain, many names of signings to try to deflect attention, but half a squad for sale to be able to cope with some signing since the current money seems not to be enough for much. Something that is in evidence by changing a 24-year-old player like Arthur for a 30-year-old like Pjanic, just to lighten the payroll. Avoiding the empty season seemed complicated, but with Messi motivated there are no impossibles.
After the practically obligatory paperwork at Naples, the next step was one of the best Bayern in recent years. And against the Germans ended the bet of all or nothing that became the bluegrana season. It has been a long time playing with fire entrusting itself only to the genius of Messi and in Lisbon everything came out red. The red of a Bayern that is serious candidate to take the title after being a bulldozer against Barça.
The start of the match was so intense on both sides that everyone dared to go for it, and that's how it was, but from Bayern. More football was seen in the first half hour than in the other two full quarter-final matches. Although Barça were the first to warn, forcing Boateng to work hard to avoid a Luis Suarez strike that smelled of a goal, it was the Germans who took the lead.
Forced pass from Busquets to De Jong, robbery of Gnabry that opens wide to Perisic, crossing to Müller that plays to Lewandowski, short devolution of the Pole and finish at Müller's pleasure. Goal in the purest Barça style, but from Bayern. Four minutes of play and already it was looking bad. However, the forces were equalized thanks to an own goal of Alaba with a cross from Jordi Alba.
The best of Setien's came right after the draw. They had two great chances to make it 2-1 but Neuer saved a one-on-one against Suarez and a poisoned cross from Messi crashed into the post. But the azulgrana's chances of smelling the semi-finals died after 15 minutes. The next few minutes were an exhibition of German football that, with high pressure, speed, strength and definition, scored three more goals in the blink of an eye. In the 30th minute the score reflected a definitive 1-4 thanks to goals from Perisic, another from Müller and Gnabry. With one hour of play left, Barça's season was over and, hopefully, Setién's on the bench.
The 1-2 arrived after a raid on Sergi Roberto, pass from Gnabry to Perisic and goal from the latter with a crossed shot. With barely enough time to breathe, the third arrived thanks to a sensational pass from Goretzka that left Gnabry alone to beat Ter Stegen. And with Barça broken all over the place, and the defence in trouble, the fourth arrived after a steal on Semedo that ended up in a cross on the other side after a change of play that Müller finished off by beating Lenglet. It took half an hour of play, everything was resolved, but Bayern wanted more. Barcelona didn't have anything working, they were slower (age doesn't forgive) and were crying out for a break. Ter Stegen avoided another goal before Skomina sent them into the dressing room and in the second half, Griezmann came out for Sergi Roberto. Setién was able to regain the 4-3-3 formation, but the German powerhouse did not care about the systems. Flick's midfield was a perfect machine and Müller's distribution of play in midfield was enough to get past the Culé defence time and time again. After two good runs from the Munich side that Ter Stegen disrupted, Luis Suarez cut back on Boateng and Barcelona thought they could play the flute. But it all came to nothing six minutes after a play by Davies on the wing that exposed Semedo and left the goal on a plate for Kimmich to make the fifth. A goal made by both full-backs, which says it all about how the game went.
Setién got Ansu Fati out for Busquets and Barcelona ended up playing with a 4-2-3-1. But that was the least of it for Bayern, who were doing their thing against a team that was asking for the hour and giving up a game in which they were being far inferior, something they are not used to. For more inri of the day, Flick took out Coutinho, a player on loan from Barça and with whom they do not know what to do for next season. Another story that is not understood in Bartomeu's club.
Bayern had scored five yet Lewandowski, their top scorer, had not socred. But the Pole was in the mood and made the sixth when he headed home a cross from Coutinho. The Brazilian went out with a vengeance and after giving the sixth, he scored the seventh and eighth... Message for the Culé Board of Directors: This team is a bulldozer - it has won 26 of its last 27 games - and may have signed the end of the cycle in a Barcelona that needs a deep cleaning and has little time to do so because September is just around the corner.

Kicker: "A unique Barça disaster: Bayern München smashes Messi & Co."

The FC Bayern München has reached the semi-finals of the Champions League with a crashing, historic and for FC Barcelona disastrous result. The German record champions overwhelmed the defensively-catastrophic Catalans with no less than 8:2!
Barcelona's manager Quique Setien changed his starting line-up in two positions compared to the 3-1 draw with Naples in the second round of the round of 16, and responded with a slightly more defensive approach to the strength of form of the German record champions: Busquets returned after suspension for Rakitic (bench), and former Bavarian Vidal was allowed to play in place of world champion Griezmann (bench).
Bayern coach Hansi Flick, on the other hand, left the same eleven players who had recently bagged a clear 4-1 win over Chelsea FC in the second leg of the round of 16. Meaning: Perisic started in place of Coman, who was available as a wild card, Boateng and Davies cured their wounds in time, Kimmich helped out the injured Pavard as right-back, and Thiago was to pull the strings in midfield with Goretzka.
And that's what the two did for the most part during the first 45 minutes, creating permanent pressure for the team from München. It was the very courageous offensive pressing in particular what rocked the Barça backline, which at times showed acute negligence from experienced players like Piqué - and very often caused them to fall.
The result was 1-0 for FC Bayern in the fourth minute, with Perisic escaping on the left wing after Gnabry's steep pass before his next cross landed in front of the penalty area at the lurking Müller. The 2014 world champion played a quick one-two with Lewandowski waiting in the penalty area - and then took a jovial exit to take an early lead. However, the Catalan side were still able to recover from this setback as they exerted a great deal of pressure on themselves throughout the first half of the game. For example, in the 7th minute they forced a 1-1 draw, which Alaba undercut with an own goal after an accidental rescue. Neuer had no chance to defend, but saved a short time later in a one-on-one with Suarez (9') and watched as one of his opponents' crosses hit the post after a slight Busquets contact (10'). In addition, Messi approached with a typical solo run, but finished too imprecisely (20'.).
Up to this point, it looked like an entertaining Champions League evening with highlights on both sides, but this was to be reversed from now on. All of a sudden Barcelona's rear men made a series of mistakes, positioned themselves incorrectly and failed to close gaps.
The consequences were obvious: After Sergi Roberto lost the ball, Perisic scored from a sharp angle with the slight assistance of Lenglet to make it 2-1 (22'), before Gnabry cut metres from Lenglet in a running duel to reach Goretzka and shot in an as dry as a bone shot in front of the crossbar to make it 3-1 (28'). But that was not enough, because Kimmich was still free to cross and find Müller. Müller stood his ground in the five-meter area with simple means against Lenglet, who was always the center of attention, and was happy about his simple shot to make it 4-1 (31'). In the end, Barça could even be happy that after a ter Stegen pass that was too short, Lewandowski, who had been relatively inconspicuous until then, missed the goal freely in front of the goal - the DFB goalkeeper parried strongly with his leg (29.). Or that Perisic missed (36') and again Lewandowski did not head well enough (39').
Barça manager Setien took more risks with the restart, bringing Griezmann for Sergi Roberto, but it didn't help much on the pitch. Bayern continued to dominate for a long time before Jordi Alba came out of nowhere to serve target player Suarez. The Uruguayan danced Boateng out with a simple hook and scored with his left for a 4-2 goal (57'). New hope for Barcelona? Not at all! Just six turns of the clock later, the Catalan defence made the next negative outburst, with Davies hitting hard the passive Semedo, pulling inside and serving the free-standing Kimmich, who only needed to push the ball in to make it 5-2.
The rest is quickly told: Barça surrendered to his fate, approaching only halfway through the game - and was still to fall further under the wheels. Coutinho, on loan from the Catalans, came into the game and prepared Lewandowski's 6-2 header with an elegant chip (82'), before the Brazilian himself started the double from close range (85' and 89'). The result was an incredible 8-2 on the scoreboard, the highest scoring knockout in the competition. A historic victory for the German FCB as perfect as the historic humiliation for the Spanish FCB and the completely fed up Messi.
POST-MATCH INTERVIEWS & QUOTES
Quique Setién:
  • "It's a tremendously painful defeat, I think it's too many goals, many of them are certainly deserved. The team has been overwhelmed at times, they've been very effective. We started well, but the strength of this team has exceeded us."
  • "When you make a reflection like that (Pique's) something must be true. The reality is that there is enormous frustration and all that remains is to draw conclusions and make decisions with the future in mind. The Barça is a club so great that this do much damage. Now it's all too near to think whether I'm going to continue or not. It is not up to me, we must have a reflection, taking into account the situation and the importance of this humiliating and painful defeat
  • "I know what a defeat of this caliber means. We need to look at what happened today from a broader perspective. I know that a manager's credibility is diminished when something like this happens. This is not what I care about right now. You have to deal with a loss like this. We've been outplayed by a very good team. With the exception of the first few minutes, we were clearly outplayed for the rest of the game "
  • "There's no constructive message that can work right now. We are extremely frustrated. This is tremendously painful for the fans. We, as professionals, are hurting too, and we have to deal with it. We have to think that the future will be better. We must recover from the image we have given today, thinking about the future"
Flick:
  • ""We played an incredible game. We are happy and satisfied, but there are still games to be played to be champions. We know that anything can happen. We're very happy with today's performance, of course. Starting tomorrow, we'll be charging our batteries for the semi-final. Today was impressive."
  • "After an 8-2 I don't think I should answer a question like that (about what it is left to improve). You can take the positives out of it. The pressure, the recovery, things that we wanted to do and have done perfectly. We will analyze the game in other moments to see which things to improve.
  • "This is a victory that will go down in the history books, but it would have been too if it had finished 3-1. It's impressive and it's a signal we've sent to the other teams. We have players with a lot of experience. We need to concentrate on the next game. Now we have to analyse what happened and prepare for it in the best possible way. But we know it's going to be very hard."
  • "I'm happy for Nagelsmann and for Tuchel too. We are among the four best. I know this feeling. We are among the best in Europe and we can be happy. Now we all want to reach the final. Let's hope there can be a German final."
Piqué:
  • "I'm in pain. We all are. We can't compete like that. It's very, very tough to take. We must change the dynamic we are on. We've hit the bottom. If I have to leave to get some new blood, I'm leaving. In Europe we don't compete and in la Liga we don't succeed anymore. You just can't mask it anymore. A disgrace, I can't say anything else. It's not the first or the second time. The club now needs changes of all kinds"
Müller:
  • "We worked so hard, with such intensity, it's tough for anyone to beat us. We had so much fun out there today. Barcelona have special players and we had to be even more aggressive, come back again and again. It's a big statement but the semi-final starts at 0-0."
Kimmich:
  • "Nein" (asked if he was sad for Messi).
STATS AND FACTS
  • La Liga will not be represented in the European Cup semi-finals for the first time since the 2006-07 season (Manchester United, Milan, Chelsea and Liverpool).

  • Barcelona is the fifth team in conceding 8 goals in the Champions League after Deportivo la Coruña (2003), Besiktas (2007), Malmö (2015) and Legia (2016).
  • Barcelona closed the season without a single official title, something that had not happened since the 2007-08 campaign.
  • Bayern München have won their last 19 matches in all competitions, a record run in German top-flight football in all competitions.
  • Bayern Munich have reached their 12th Champions League semi-final - only Real Madrid have done so more often (13).

POINTS OF DISCUSSION
  • I) Pochettino vs ten Hag: How would you rate the tactical decisions from the Argentinian and the Dutch? Was Pochettino's a masterclass? Was the Dutch a disaster in the last half as Mourinho said? why?
  • II) How would you rate this Ajax against other surprising teams of previous years?: Stronger or weaker than Roma 2018 or Monaco 2017? or Man City 2016? maybe even BVB 2013? How truly strong was this team in your opinion?
  • III) What do you think that will happen in the final?: An English final, what do you think will happen? is there a favourite team?

Any streaks you want me to kill?

I can't complain because betting has been kind to me lately, but I am a streak killer:
Killed both Man City and Liverpool latest winning streaks, when they were like more than 15 in a row, I placed a bet on them winning and it ended.
Remember when Jaime Vardy broke Van Nistelroys streak of scoring in 11 games? I placed a bet on the next game.
Killed a 7 year streak in which Barcelona scored at home since 2012, I bet on them to score vs Slavia Praga and bam.
And San Marino, who has not scored a goal at home for 6 years, just scored after I placed BTTS No on their game.
And it's not like I was betting on any of the above until it drained out, it were all bets placed the first time regarding said streaks.
So, any rival streak you want me to end? I will show no mercy.
Edit: thanks to u/Neymars_lawyer_AMA i just remebered I had 5 euros on Liverpool to win against Man United and they drew for the first time this season lol

"Everyone's talking about how tough Liverpool will be, but it would be the same for Barcelona, Bayern or Sevilla. In the quarter-finals, you have to expect your opponents to be one of the toughest teams in the world. The way we play is perfect for Liverpool. MATCH FACTS
Liverpool
  • Jordan Henderson and Alberto Moreno are a booking away from a ban.
  • Liverpool have failed to score in only two of their last 19 matches in all competitions, winning 2-1 at Crystal Palace FC on Saturday.
  • Liverpool have lost only one of their 23 games at Anfield in all competitions this season (W14 D8), although they have won only three of the last six (D2 L1). They have scored in all but three of those 23 fixtures.
  • The Reds have won seven of their last 12 matches in all competitions, losing three.
  • Liverpool's 2-0 win against Newcastle United FC on 3 March was their first clean sheet in their last seven home games; they subsequently kept clean sheets in the next two.
  • Mohamed Salah has scored 16 goals in his last 14 appearances for Liverpool, including the late winner at Palace at the weekend. The Egyptian has 29 Premier League goals in 31 appearances this season.
  • Nathaniel Clyne has not played for the first team this season due to a back injury – although he has been added to Liverpool's UEFA Champions League squad and was an unused substitute at Palace.
  • Joe Gomez had to be replaced early in England's 1-0 victory away to the Netherlands on 23 March with an ankle problem. Emre Can has been sidelined since 17 March with a back injury.
  • Salah was on target in Egypt's 2-1 defeat by Portugal on 23 March; new Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk scored in a 3-0 victory against the Portuguese three days later.
  • Dominic Solanke recovered from a toe injury to score a late winner for England Under-21s against Ukraine on 27 March.
Manchester City
  • Danilo, İlkay Gündoğan and Fernandinho will incur a suspension with their next yellow cards.
  • City have won all but four of their 31 Premier League games this season. They have lost just one of their last 39 league fixtures, winning 33 and drawing five. They were 3-1 winners at Everton FC on Saturday and will be crowned champions if they beat Manchester United at home on 7 April.
  • Josep Guardiola's side have won their last three away games in all competitions, and four of the last five – keeping clean sheets in but one of all those victories. Their overall record away from home this season is W19 D3 L3 with 12 clean sheets.
  • City have scored 58 goals away from home, conceding 20. Only Crystal Palace FC, in the Premier League on 31 December (0-0), and third tier Wigan Athletic FC in the last 16 of the FA Cup on 19 February (0-1) have stopped them scoring.
  • Sergio Agüero has 15 goals in 15 games in all competitions in 2018, and needs one more to become the first player to score 200 for City. His four-goal haul against Leicester City FC on 10 February was the third time he has managed four in a Premier League match; no other player can match that.
  • Raheem Sterling has 16 Premier League goals this season – seven more than his previous best total of nine, with Liverpool in 2013/14.
  • City claimed the first silverware of the English domestic season with a 3-0 victory against Arsenal in the League Cup final at Wembley on 25 February, thanks to goals from Agüero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva. It is the fifth time the Citizens have won the competition.
  • Gabriel Jesus scored the only goal as Brazil beat Germany on 27 March. The same day, Kevin De Bruyne found the net as Belgium beat Saudi Arabia 4-0 – his first goal in 20 internationals, since May 2016 – and Nicolás Otamendi was on target for Argentina, although they lost 6-1 to Spain in Madrid.
  • Kyle Walker, Sterling and John Stones were in the England team that beat a Netherlands side captained by Virgil van Dijk and also featuring Georginio Wijnaldum 1-0 in Amsterdam on 23 March. The same day, Bernardo Silva started for Portugal in a 2-1 win against Mohamed Salah's Egypt.
  • Benjamin Mendy has not played since a cruciate knee injury on 23 September. Fabian Delph suffered a muscle injury on 5 March and has not featured since; Agüero has been out since 10 March with a knee problem picked up in training while Stones missed the Everton game with concussion.
  • De Bruyne was included in the UEFA.com Fans' Team of the Year 2017. The Belgian handed over a cheque from for €100,000 to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) before the second leg against Basel.

Team DBview - Manchester United [Premier League 2019-20 - 14/20]

Manchester United Football Club

by nitedfan

Welcome back to the first(? I've lost count) iteration of our long-running series, in which actually I really can't think of anything that even resembles humour to parody this opening paragraph. I apologise.
So yeah, Manchester United.
This will be a doozey.
About
"It’s difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It’s a wonder I haven’t abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart." - Anne Frank on DB’s /soccer explusion.

Last Season

Last season was another in what has become a long slog since AAlex Ferguson left. Our managers since have been nothing short of disgraceful. First, the club had the audacity to appoint the man that Ferguson handpicked to be his successor. Then we had to endure the hardships of the man who led Ajax to a Champions League win and dominated with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The man who was at the helm at the start of this season really was the pick of the bunch though. The inept hybrid of innovation and success, whose odorous little trophy haul “boasted” European Cups and League titles from across the continent was what we, the official United Supporters Club of Houston, Texas, had to suffer through with such great fortitude, saddled with such phenomenal mental trauma.
But then, In the Bleak Midwinter, a hero emerged. Following a humiliating 3-1 loss to Liverpool (which Travis and Brad still won't let me live down, the freaking bin dippers) Medusa saw her own reflection. Manchester United and all-round soccer legend Ole Gunnar Solskjær took over. He brought the United way back. The passion was there. The desire was there. No more shying away, Ole's at the wheel, oh let me tell you how good it feels.
BANG talk to you later Cardiff! Oh hi Huddersfield, nice idea but this is Ole's unstoppable train. Hmm Bournemouth, some nice cherries you have there, be a shame if a certain Norwegian PICKED them. Game after game the heads of the English soccer titans rolled at the feet of Ole's irrefutable boys. The Busby Babes had sex with the Class of 92 and Scotty McSAUCE was the result. Defenders could barely move they were so scared of Tony M, Rashy and Big Chungus. PogChamp feeding through balls oh yes Ole, oh yes. IT FEELS SO GOOD.
"they've had a good start, he's no miracle worker"
Oh is that right bro? Well sit down and strap in as I tell you a story about the most iconic Champions League Round of 16 game to have ever graced the sport. When Manchester United drew the impenetrable Paris Saint-Germain, much famed for their dominance of the most competitive league in Europe and their irresistible form in the Champions League, nobody gave Ole's lions a chance. After the first leg the salty ABUs giggled to themselves. 2-0 loss with Paul Pogba suspended for the second leg? My god, it'll be a massacre! But they forget. This. Is. Manchester. United. A team fabled for their never say die attitude, for their ability to pull something out the hat when all the chips are down. Whose fans - the best in the world - will NEVER turn their back on the team. You gave up. We didn't.
BAM Lukaku 0-1. Juan Bernat 1-1? THIS IS MANCHESTER UNITED, LUKAKU 1-2. Hear that? It's the sound of the Red Devils knocking on the door. The pressure is insurmountable, Kimpembe glances over at our dugout. He sees a man who knows we will win. A man who knows the United way. He sees our Ole. PENALTY! Marcus Rashford, cool as you like. Neymar looks on bewildered from the stands. He knows which franchise's jersey he'd rather be donning. He knows who he'd rather have driving him forward, who he'd rather have behind the wheel. Tell me, how good does it feel?
We went on to lose 4-0 to Barcelona in the next round, finish 6th and end the season empty-handed.

This Season

This season is already shaping up to be something special. The lightning speed of new boy Daniel "vroom vroom" James mirroring the elegance of Anthony Martial with inch-perfect balls sent to feet by the Pirlo-esque passing of Paul Pogba. An attack spearheaded by two of Manchester's finest in Marcus Rashford and something Greenwood. On the rare occasion that a player gets past McSauce, they'll have to deal with the hard-hitting defending of Arachnid Wan-Bissaka. All this emulsified by the tactical prowess of Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
Youth. Courage. Success. Oh, that doesn’t resonate with you? Hey, that’s fine, Manchester United didn’t reach the pinnacle of football by being like the run-of-the-mill club y’all support. See, before Ole we had a series of transfers that, whilst at the time may have been claimed to be in the vein of the United way, in retrospect turned out to be a string of red herrings. But now Ole’s back, so is the United way. Manchester United don’t build their foundations on spewing money everywhere like Manchester City and Liverpool. No, we’re different. We care about youth, we care about courage, and we define ourselves on success. This is why we’ve spent this summer going for young gems as opposed to spending silly money. Matthijs de Ligt, Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to name just a few of these players were targeted in hopes of showing clubs that you can still organically develop a football team in to a European Goliath by just putting a little faith in youth.
However, a dark cloud overshadows this. The Glazers once again threatened with their paltry sums to do nothing but accumulate more atop the £800m pittance they've spent in the last 5 years. Anger boiled over in tidal waves of sweat as the grease dripped down from shaggy locks whose humble abode lay atop my fair head. I tapped away vigilantly at my phone screen as the concoction of sweat and grease engulfed the display. Before all touch capability disintegrated in to a puddle of human despair, I managed to send out the tweet.
#GlazersOut.
A spark, prefixed by a hash. A revolution is afoot.
But this is no ordinary revolution, this is organised by some of the finest minds that Manchester United Reddit & Twitter has to offer. I'm trying to think of a way to say this humbly but I can't so I'll just say it. We got the hashtag to NUMBER ONE trending on Twitter. I'm welling up a little just thinking about it. The date was set for the protest. June 29th would be the fateful day the Glazers feel the wrath of the Red Devils, inhale the smog of the fiery pits of hell. Love Manchester United. Hate the Glazers.
Me personally? Well I wouldn't be attending, no. Think of me as a Field Marshal, like Haig if you will. I'm the orchestrator, my subjects will do the protesting - and protest they will. Green and yellow banners will unfurl, songs will be sung, fan groups will roll up in the bus-load à la the miners at Pride in '85. The Glazers will have sold up come closing hours through fear of being left completely at the mercy of the famous Manchester United fanbase. It will be the day we get OUR United back. Hated, adored, NEVER ignored.
20 people turned up.

3 players to watch out for
⭐️ Paul Pogba
Despite the salty ABU infested media's attempts at trying to besmirch Paul by doing things like directly quoting him saying he wants to leave, true Red Devils such as myself and my friend Trevor know better. On his day indisputably the world's best midfielder, Paul bleeds Manchester United football club. He could have gone to any club, but he came to us. After we offered to double his wage and made him the most expensive footballer in the history of the sport. A man who never gives up on the pitch, never turns his back on the club, is never involved in any controversy. Who showed so much passion in the CL RO16 first leg that he got sent off putting us in a potentially precarious position for the second leg, although we ended up playing better without him. That's the kind of man you want to be the linchpin of your side, and the man I myself am rallying behind to slide that captain's armband on to that huge defined bicep of his.
⭐️ Michael(?) Greenwood
Wow. What a prospect this young man is. Having absolutely blitzed pre-season, he undoubtedly must have one hand on the PFA YPOTY award. Like most Manchester United fans, I know a lot about him and have been following his career trajectory for the best part of a decade now. Never before has a more talented footballer graced the academy of a team in English football, and - whisper it quietly - but give it 5 years and we may bump that from "English football" to "World football". With massive goals against the likes of Le*ds (scum!) he looks set to follow in the footsteps of Marcus Rashford and hit that prolific 1 goal every 4 games mark that really acts as a litmus test for separating the wheat from the chaff. The Lord Bendtners from the Emile Heskeys XD.
⭐️ Cristiano Ronaldo
Having started his pre-season on a strong note of having rape allegations dropped through lack of evidence (thots, begone!) Ronaldo is really shaping up for another season of doing Manchester United proud. Whilst the pedants may point out he left the club 10 years ago, and if he'd had his way he'd have left 11 years ago, it is clear Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely adores the club so we make a point of following his progress each season as if he didn't literally use us as a stepping stone, turn down every opportunity to rejoin us, and celebrate after scoring against us by flashing his abs. And at the risk of riling y'all up in the comments, c'mon dude, it's totally Ronaldo > Messi (no /s).
What the fans think
Thanks to /The_Donald for their help
How do you think this season will go?
I'm not sure really I'm more looking forward to the next transfer window and continuing to publicly support a man who puts children in cages.
  • Jroades267
I'm currently in a hotel in Kho Phangan and just saw the Lukaku news there and loudly screamed "HOLY SHIT LUKAKU" and this Thai lad a few balconies below replied "I KNOW!!"
  • TyperSniper (editor's note: literally nobody asked, Typer)
This pre-season has been immense. I have a feeling we’re being underestimated by people who haven’t been watching us. What Ole has managed to galvanise tactically is something completely new which I think is going to take the league by storm. Basically, when an opposition player is on the ball, two or more United players will run at him closing down any passing avenues. This decreases the chance of the opposition player making a dangerous pass, and increases the chance of a United player potentially winning the ball. Then, on the occasions when we get the ball, we start to move forward and kick it towards the opposition goal. It’s something completely new and in fitting with what you expect from Manchester United. I’m calling it “pressurising”.
  • paeders
Which player is going to be your star of the season and why?
ITK 27. I’m convinced that this one actually has a source.
  • Ubergorp
Harry Maguire. He is going to completely transform this defence. For the steal price of £140m we’ve managed to quickly storm right in to contention for the best defence in the league with AWB and Slabbers. Whilst Wan-Bissaka has been superb, and through his appearances in the ICC has essentially already paid back his price tag, Maguire really is going to be something else. Affectionately dubbed “Slabhead” by the United fans (god we’re clever and original) the all-conquering defender comes from defensive juggernauts Leicester, who conceded a mere 48 goals last season in comparison in to our disastrous 54 goals. Squawka Comparison Matrix with the right selected stats actually shows him to be a better defender than Virgil van Dijk, the so-called best in the world. DB's Debrief

by the DB_Cooper727
As someone who has been permanently banned from both /RedDevils and /LiverpoolFC, DB feels like he’s best placed to be giving a preview on Manchester United.
The Manager: Usually found snorting lines of Carrington dust that he believes to be remnants of Alex Ferguson's dead skin, OGS has taken a slightly unorthodox approach to this window in buying from close to home. This, in part, is likely because he thought he wasn't yet worthy of using Ferguson's old scouting setup and first had to prove himself by signing players he already knew about. Whilst on the face of it you could argue he has a win percentage comparable to that of David Moyes, completely leans on Mike Phelan to do any kind of coaching work and has, by his own design, overshadowed his entire United reign with an inferiority complex in relation to Ferguson, Ole is a manager beyond his years. So much so that, despite being almost 5 years removed from his tenure at Cardiff, he still managed to deliver them a big 4th PL win under his tutelage when kamikazing his United side against them. Most worryingly for United fans, though, is the fact that the only people who like Ole more than they do is the fans of their rival clubs.
The Team: Through one technicality or another, United boast the incredible record of their entire team being academy products. Every United fan is well-versed in the intricacies of these technicalities and will be able to offer onsite assistance to anyone whose mind may stray away from their infallible club being fuelled by anything other than the United way. They also have an unnervingly brilliant ability at plucking absolute nobodies from clubs lower in the table and making them one of the best in the league without so much as a senior appearance. Take Wan-Bissaka for instance. I bet you can’t even name which irrelevant minnow he used to ply his trade for, but one thing we’re all able to agree on is that as of the 29th June he is indisputably one of the best right-backs in the league.
Why to like them: They ruined your childhood but now they’re shite. Like watching the kid who used to make fun of you for still eating Lunchables when you were in your teens drink himself in to having wet brain. Fuck you Jake you’re a burden on your family and your mum just liked Dignitas’ page on Facebook. Their record with managerial appointments and transfers is horrendously poor, to the point that if they managed to get a manager or signing right it’d be a surprise only dwarfed by the time Taylor Swift brought out Robbie Williams to sing Angels at Wembley. Rival fans can delight and revel in the fact they’ve become everything they used to criticise and mock. Spending loads of money on prima donnas, give nauseating recounts of their history, and the best moments of their post-Ferguson era have been the two times their local rivals beat their biggest rivals to the title. I realise these aren’t really reasons to like them, but come on, it’s Manchester United. DB can only bend the truth so much.
Why to dislike them: No Gun Ri Massacre, My Lai Massacre, Highway of Death. Their legends are littered with women beating, brother's wife pulling, granny shagging, chicken tongue-fucking dangers. Without even the slightest trace of irony they belt out verses about wanting to "go on the piss with Georgie Best", a man who denounced alcohol and the impact it had on his life whilst laying on his deathbed. Whilst for a spell in 2011 their club resembled a bastion of the civil rights movement, more recently their fans have shown a less progressive attitude as they fought back against organisations such as Kick It Out over the racial connotations of their Lukaku chant, defended a homophobic Patrice Evra rant, and claimed that someone who recently called Ashley Young the N word was, in fact, trying to say "like". However, I think we can all agree that which really stands out, tangled within this mesh of reprehensible and immoral actions, is their treatment of our oh so sweet and precious DB. His only crime? Correctly predicting the downfall of the /reddevils at the hands of the ITKs. Their potential saviour, only ever given the chance to be the villain. For shame.
Summary: Unban me from /soccer I’ll be such a good DB 😭.

One thing is certain, this is going to be one hell of a game. Liverpool have nothing to lose, which is why they’re going to give their best and attack with all they got from the very first moment. The problem is that such gameplay will leave room for Barca counterattacks and that means problems at the back While Liverpool will keep it close in the first half, it will be Lionel Messi that rules the day. He’ll grab two goals, including one from a free kick (+700), so taking Barcelona at -110 is the best bet for this semifinal first leg, one that will see Barcelona pulling away late from Liverpool. Looking at the Liverpool vs Barcelona odds, we reckon 11/4 for a home win and both teams to score is a good option. Concussion means Salah has been ruled out of the second leg, along with Firmino (muscle tear), meaning Divock Origi, the substitute who scored the late winner at Newcastle on Saturday, is set to start.
