My step dad passed away in May 2018 before he passed away he said to me look after your Mum Jo, don't let her sell the house, she has enough money in the bank to enable her to cut down her hours at work and she can take it easy, if she sells she will have to pay out money that she doesn't need to as they were mortgage free.
Now my Mum is a stunning looking woman, very glam and I just knew the vultures would descend and 1 vulture in particular is an absolute scumbag.
Now let me give you a picture because for a while I thought am I the arsehole here but to have the validation that other family members also picked up on the red flags was enough for me to realise I wasn't being unreasonable.
Let me make this perfectly clear I want my Mum to be happy, but I know my Mum better then anyone and know she lacks a massive amount of confidence because she isn't very educated, she has alot of common sense (some of the time) but because she never did well at school this has made her lack confidence so she has always relied on me or my step dad to help guide her, but its this lack of confidence that makes her very easily manipulated.
My Mum works as a cleaner and the company she works for one of the warehouse workers took an interest, at first she rebuffed him and I said to her Mum you are still grieving for Dad its not the right time to go rushing in just yet give yourself some time because you can put a band aid on grief in the hope it will just disappear you have to see it through.
I was also trying to get her to a point of self sufficiency so she could start having some confidence about doing things for herself.
However to my disappointment she pursued this arsehole and on their first date I found out he spiked her drink.
He didn't spike it with pills, basically she ordered a Brandy and coke and he had a shot of vodka put into it.
This prick thought it was hilarious and he told me it was to loosen my Mum up.
Is he for fucking real? I mean if you are already drinking Brandy for god sake what possible reason do you need to put a poxy Vodka into it.
Anyway Mum was hanging onto his every word and laughing with him and I have my head in my hands thinking men can actually get arrested for this shit.
Following on from that were numerous other red flags ranging from

Accusing my mum of chatting to men on Facebook and he chucked her out of his mums home.
Calls her an excessive amount of times during the day my uncle and me counted he called her 9 times in one day.
We can never have a 1:1 conversation with her, he needs to be included and put on speakerphone
Found out she loaned his daughter £500
He encouraged my mum to part exchange her brand new fiesta for an Audi on finance when she didn't need to do that meaning she now has a huge £347 a month bill coming out.
Very forceful with my Mums dog, found out he even smacked him on the nose... makes my blood boil my mums dog is the most chilled out dog you could ever meet and he is tiny.
I believe because he was so forceful with my mums dog the dog developed a skin condition through stress and he was refusing to take the dog to the vet because his daughter said it would clear up... I want to scream right now.
Claims he pays my mum £1000 towards bills which is a lie found out he was paying her alot less
Because he transfers money for bills, everytime they do something like go for a meal he says to my Mum pay for it on the halifax card jan meaning the money he is supposed to contribute towards bills isnt actually paying the bills.
Excessive betting every day, my uncle spotted that he went out with £100 and came back with nothing.

Now I have tried speaking to her god knows Ive tried but she gets on the defensive and attacks me.
Thankfully though I think a few things started to come to light and she started calling me on the quiet and complaining about things she had noticed.
Last Sunday however my mother rang me up in a state because she found out this wanker stole almost £2k from her bank account on Gambling.
The devious arsehole convinced her to let him download the bet365 app to her phone register her bank card while he deposited £200 into her account.
He then went on to not only spend his money but also clean out my mums account leaving her with £7.50
As you can imagine I was raging not only at her stupidity but at him for the level of manipulation.
My mum was determined it was over and was packing his bag, I’m selling up as soon as my house is decorated in order to be closer to her and it killed me that I didn’t live closer I can’t begin to tell you the anxiety I felt not being there. I told her to stay strong, I found the betting app and the log in and deactivated the account and told her first thing on Monday go to the bank and get the account changed.
During this time the boyfriend aka Scumbag was at work, I said to her you don’t even let him in just leave his packed case outside. Sadly it didn’t pan out that way and to my complete shock later that evening when he returned to my mums home the boyfriend managed to sweet talk my mum and he never left.
To add insult to injury she went Facebook official with their relationship the following day while I was here stressed to the max worrying sick about her.
I also found out shes now blocked me from Facebook too.
My family are all shaking their heads because we dont understand any of this, she has rejected her friends and family for this man and the only possible reason they want her in the family fold is because what she has, shes mortgage free has money in the bank.
This fuckwit she is with is 57 years old and has nothing to his name, he was living with his mother for god sake and all his money goes to the bookies.
Shes clearly getting something from them that she isnt getting from us or is it just how grief has manifested in my mums case.
I dont understand why we are the enemy when all we have ever tried to do is support her.
I am completely heartbroken.

In praise of Bet365 and other thoughts. “How did they do?” A review of the major UK bookies re: Coronavirus and suspended NBA futures

Hi folks, long time lurker here, zero time poster. On this rare occasion, I feel as though I actually have something to say. Who am I and why should you care? well, i'm nobody but over the past 7 years I have held bets with every single major bookie that services the UK. All sportsbooks here are regulated so in general you should never have an issue if you are following the rules.

However, owing to the coronavirus in March of this year and suspension of every major sports league in the world, it quickly became apparent to me in communications with them that none were adequately prepared to deal with a situation quite like this. I was curious then to see how each would step up (or not) to the plate given that the majority of their T&C’s were fairly lacking RE: a global pandemic. How much can you really trust the books to do right by you and your money when it’s nut-crunching time. Let's find out!

I had just over £61k of open NBA division futures across 8 of the major UK bookies when the season was suspended. By day I’m a Chartered accountant (CPA for you folks across the pond) and ex-Big 4 auditor so you better believe I kept a paper trail of every correspondence and read the T&C’s of every site back to front. Now that everything has been settled, I’d like to a take a minute j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶s̶i̶t̶ ̶r̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ to write about my experience with each book. Maybe it'll be useful to some of you.

These are the 8 sites in question: Bet365, Paddypower, Betfair, Unibet, 888, Betway, Skybet, William Hill (Notable omissions Ladbrokes/Coral and Betstars)

Bet365 – A+ The gold standard and they simply can’t be beaten. Any bettor with experience knows that they are light years ahead of the competition in terms of well everything.. betting limits, customer service, UI, favourable treatment of their punters. This was one of only 2 books which had irrefutable wording in their rules with regards to NBA futures- “all bet stand regardless of team relocation, team name change or season length". No qualms, the ruling is crystal clear.
A quick chat with one of their agents was all I needed to confirm that indeed all my bets are 100% live. Once the season resumed- divisions were marked as settled and paid out as soon as they were mathematically clinched.
In a gesture of goodwill they also voided all Jazz NW division winner futures and paid out for all parlays which they were a leg of. Spoilers- they were the ONLY book to do so. This was worth over £10k to me and highly unexpected as at best I expected a push. The best book there is, period (and not just because they refunded me)

PaddpoweBetfair - B+ I’m grouping these 2 together because they share the same traders. Another powerhouse duo in the UK. Terms and conditions here were far less forthcoming than for Bet365. No explicit wording regarding the status of suspended NBA futures but reassurances were given by live chat agents that they were in touch with the league to confirm whether NBA divisions would still be a thing. A fair position to take given the circumstances but still significant uncertainty for me regarding the status of my bets.
These were however my fastest bets to settle once divisions were eventually clinched so I give them credit for that. No voided bets and everything settled as is. Communication could have been better in the 5 month gap but on the whole, OK.

Unibet/888 - B Again, grouping these 2 because they share the same traders. No particular wording or clear T&C’s with regards to the status of bets in a suspension but Unibet do have their own forum where you can ask questions. For all intents and purposes I found them to be rather useless. A definite clear line of distinction between the agents answering questions and the traders who know (or don’t know) what’s going on but are unable or unwilling to commit to a clear answer one way or the other.
With no clear T&C’s to cover the situation I understand why they took this line but it was of no comfort to me who had £17k of open bets between them. I was told seemingly every week “there’s a big meeting with the traders to discuss this on Friday” but never heard the outcome or details of said meetings. Definitely felt as though I was being given the run around but hey ultimately these were settled correctly as at the completion of every seeding game. Communication could have been better.

Betway - B Same wording in their T&C’s as Bet365 so I had little worry about my bets being voided. My bets were marked as won as soon as they were clinched but were not paid out until the completion of every seeding game.
I held no losing bets with Betway so cannot speak to whether they voided losers. Chat agents were clueless of their own T&C’s though when I sought to confirm whether my bets were live during the hiatus but on the whole at least tried to be helpful in our back and forths.

Skybet – B- Semi-clear wording in their T&C’s: “If an NBA Division is not completed within the same calendar year, all Division bets will be made void unless the result has already been determined.” No confirmation from their traders what would happen if the season were totally suspended though, just that that they would resort to the ruling from the official governing body. Fine, what else could they do.
Bets were settled on completion of all seeding games. Agent’s again a little clueless or hesitant to confirm or deny what would happen in the event of [insert scenario here] but on the whole, okay. Communication could have been better in the hiatus, i'm sensing a theme here..

William Hill – F Maybe I’m being a tad harsh here but in my experience William Hill was by far the worst of all the books to deal with during this time. T&C’s: “Bets will be settled on the division standings on completion of all matches". What does this even mean? For months on end I was unable to get a clear answer from literally anyone. All matches being all matches of the original 82 game schedule, or all matches of the seeding games?
With hundreds of messages exchanged it seemed crystal clear to me that even they didn’t know or hadn’t decided. On June 14th they ended up voiding all my bets including those which had already clinched by then. To be clear, it wasn’t an issue that these were voided if in fact these were voided in line with their T&C’s. I didn't care how these would be settled. However, the fact that nobody was able to offer any clarity on this one sentence for 3 straight months is ridiculous. Once they were voided then they were able to clarify that actually yes “all games” did in fact mean of the original 82 having having by that point already held onto my money for months longer than necessary.... definitely left a dirty taste in my mouth. Expected better for a book this size. F is for fail.

So overall? fairly positive to be honest. You can trust them all to do the right thing... eventually. The main element that was lacking during the down time was communication. I feel as though almost all of them were caught flat footed- didn't what to do, what to say and how to say it to their players when things first went zerodarkthirty, though even that I can sort-of overlook given the unprecedented situation. There is no doubt though, if your market is available on Bet365 and you aren't limited there's little reason to go elsewhere. This has been my TedTalk. Thanks for attending.

How messed up is my life? i feel like an idiot

after loosing about 40k here in a year they would always credit me bonus money 1000$, 500$, 200$ and so on. After my bank roll got very low they started giving me lower
cash bonuses of 50$ and 35$ well this one time they gave me $35 about 3 weeks ago i managed to bring it up to 36,000 and cash out 15,000
which i received in two days and bring the rest of it to $433,000. I end up going straight to the live chat and the
agent starts to congratulate me and go crazy for me and assures me i would get paid, and says you have a monthly
withdrawal limit of 15000$ how ever i could allow you an extra 5000$ today for this big win and sends the money off to me which i received
i then asked him for a larger cash out as this was incredible money to me it would change my life he says yea sure we will discuss it with you tomorrow add me to whats app.

After adding him to whats-app the very next day he messages me and says

"It was noticed that unfortunately, you received a bonus that you played with and actually
won thanks to this loyalty bonus of C$35 issued on the 3rd September."

and goes on to say i breached there bonus terms which i had no idea about and basically the bonus terms say

"Winnings received through the use of the free bonus (no deposit) or free spins shall not exceed €100.
Any winnings which shall be made with the free bonus or free spins which exceeds the €100 maximum, shall be considered as nil,
and shall not be recorded as winnings. Only the maximum winnings of €100 can be withdrawn by the Player subject to the terms specified in the Bonus Policy. "

and they said that i should have never received the two cash outs but they don't want it back and then offered me a $500 free no restriction bonus that i
could also cash out.

anyway you could only imagine how i felt i argued for hours trying to say that's not fair and that they already cashed me some out and told me i won
and it was only 35$ how could they do that to me after playing for so long and loosing so much.

I was disgusted and upset and devastated. I then went on to another casino called Light Casino and i said to my self let me read there terms and everything which i did
it also had terms of max cash out of $18,000 per month which i said was ok and more as you get higher levels.

I went on Light Casino's chat and spoke to a guy named James, and asked him how much i could cash out monthly and he tells me 18,000 no issue
i said fine i created my account and started playing.

I turned 200$ this time to $133,000 i'm not joking and it was my cash money i go on to the chatroom and discuss cash out options and they tell me i have to cash
out through my profile which is cool so i go to the cash out section and my only cash out method is Etransfer and it's $1000 per withdrawal so i fume and come back
to live support and say im gonna need a bigger lump sump how can i cash out $1000 at a time, the agent proceeds to tell me that i can't cash out more then $1000
e transfer per every 3 business day's.

I got extremely angry and mad i explained to him when i signed up i was told i could cash out $18,000 he said ya but in multiple transactions of 1k per e transfer
per every 3 business days?

basically saying you can never get your money making me extremely angry and i played it all(chasing the other 400k i dreamed of and being very stupid that is).

ALL IN ALL guys i could say i have been scammed all my life, the only fair casino i played on was the guts one
(im not encouraging you to go on it but they cashed me out 80k in two days).

i feel like i want to kill my self, i don't know what to feel i mean i realize i'm a degenerate gambler and i need help big time but i don't think people who
win should be taken advantage of like that and lied to and cheated!

tdlr; i won 430k, and they basically wanted to give me 100$ saying they already gave me to much.

With Cheltenham Festival coming up, I thought I’d put together a comprehensive guide and overview for what is THE most profitable time for matched bettors.

So whether you have been doing matched betting for a while or you’re completely new to the concept, with a bit of luck this post should be interesting/useful.

Just a quick disclaimer. Throughout this guide I will be referencing Heads&Heads, however, this is not a promotional piece. The advice below can be used and applied to whichever service you happen to be with. There will be an offer at the bottom of this guide. Ignore it if you are not interested, I won’t be offended – the important thing is we all smash Cheltenham while it is still so profitable.

Firstly, why exactly is this such a profitable time for Matched Bettors? Well, simply put, the Cheltenham Festival is one of the world’s biggest horse racing events. As such, all the bookmakers will be falling over themselves to ensure punters place their bets with them rather than their competitors.

Why Cheltenham is a Big Deal
Cheltenham Festival is one of the busiest times of the year for bookmakers with projections of around £500 million to be placed in bets over the 4 days of racing. There are a total of 28 races to bet on giving an average of around £17,850,000 bet on each race. Punters at the Festival and around the country betting online jump on early ante-post markets and last minute bets. 2. Be Organised
This can be best summed up as - make sure that your money is where it needs to be before the end of the weekend prior to Cheltenham (7th & 8th March).
Additionally, try to have completed the majority of the welcome offers for the major bookmakers. The key bookmaker to have ready is Bet365 – their Horse racing offer during the festival is massively profitable.
Set up a separate PayPal for faster withdrawals.
If you've not got a massive exchange balance, then on this rare occasion we recommend boosting its size using your own funds. Of course, because you’re matched betting the only risk is the tiny qualifying loss per offer, which you should be used to by now. The last thing you want is to be missing out on offers and not making the most of the available profit.
Try to get some bets on the night before if the odds matches are strong. Know which offers are available on which races and know what offers you want to go for on each race.

3. Go Easy Early

4. Odds Boosts & VIP
Look out for the boosts and make a note to check the Heads&Heads forums facebook group hourly for any updates on potential boosts. These will come thick and fast, but if you are quick, you can create some pretty incredible profit margins.
Additionally, make sure you check your email over the 4 days. There will be plenty of bookmakers handing out ‘tailored’ offers to their VIP members. VIP has a loose definition in the eyes of the bookmaker, so you’re likely to get a lot more of these than you think and they are often very lucrative.

5. Enjoy It
Sounds cliché but don’t let it stress you out. Making money is great but taking the week off work and then running yourself into the ground all week isn't worth it. Matched betting is a side earner – something to enjoy and be done in your spare time to earn you some extra cash. It should not feel like a job.

6. A Small Exchange Balance Is No Excuse!
Is it worth taking part with a really small bank like £500'ish?
Even if you just did the offers that guaranteed a profit, you’d still make around £250 and this would not require a massive exchange balance. So yes, it is absolutely still worth it.
What If I Am Gubbed by Most Bookmakers?
This is a very common question and not an unreasonable one either. After all it is incredibly frustrating to have your account with a bookie gubbed. This is even worse when a huge event like Cheltenham is coming up.
Honestly, it will restrict your ability to make money, but it is still possible to make a profit from Cheltenham.
Extra place strategies are worth looking at. This is made possible because Extra place betting doesn’t rely on you using free offers. So, if the bookie has only restricted your use of free offers then this is your best option. Furthermore, if you are restricted from getting reload offers by a bookmaker, you should still be able to take advantage of odds boosts. So, keep an eye out for these on the Heads&Heads Forum.
Anything I Should Be Looking Out For?
One issue to be aware of is that of the smaller bookmakers offering very generous odds. If an offer looks too good to be true then you should be careful. This was particularly true a couple of years ago, when a lot of smaller bookies offered really good odds and then refused to pay out people’s winnings.
This problem is unlikely to occur again (happened in 2017), with bookmakers under the spotlight by legislators like never before. In addition, if you have an account with the bookmaker prior to Cheltenham starting, then you’ll be slightly more trusted by the bookie and thus they will honour your pay-out.
Should You Book Time Off Work?
Are you planning to take time off work during Cheltenham? This could be a great idea. As well as watching the races on TV, you can stay up to date with all of the offers during the day. However, we want to stress that taking time off work is by no means 'required' to make money during this week.
That said, speed will be key for so many of the opportunities during the festival. You may only have a small amount of time to place your bet or lose the opportunity. Being at home will, of course, make this a lot easier.
However, not everyone can take all 4 days off. So which days should you prioritise?
Simple answer really. The first day – Tuesday (10th March).

Our Predictions
Now, predictions may seem a bit useless as we are matched betting. However, knowing who the experts favour to win can help you pick a horse. So, for example, if an offer was triggered if your horse lost, you'd want to be sure you were avoiding those favoured to do well. Epatante has caught the eye of punters during the early betting for the Champion Hurdle and, at the time of writing, rates as one of the strongest race favourites of the week. We likely have not seen the best of this horse.

Benie Des Dieux

Envoi Allen
Envoi Allen is priced as the standout horse in the Ballymore Novices Hurdle and traders believe he will take all the beating. A loss here will rate as one of the biggest upsets of the week. He won each of his first seven starts.

Defi Du Seuil
Defi Du Seuil can be found quoted in the Champion Chase antepost betting and the early money has been promising. He has won 13 of his first 18 and those stats aren’t to be taken lightly, certainly not by backers.

Tiger Roll
Tiger Roll is a fans favourite but have we already seen the best of Tiger Roll? As it stands Tiger Roll is the antepost favourite to win the Cross Country Chase and is a short price at that.

One of the recent Problem Gambling Support Group meetings I attended via Skype had this fantastic topic for us to discuss as a group. I loved the topic so much I said to the person who was chairing I’ll have to write a blog on this. That person knows who they are and I just want to say I am proud of you and your journey so far.
Cognitive Dissonance in Addiction
It is rare for an addict to realize they have a problem, and stop the behaviour right then and there. Cognitive dissonance is an incompatibility between one's beliefs and desires or behaviours which causes extreme anxiety and discomfort. A gambler who recognizes their gambling has become harmful and continues to gamble experiences cognitive dissonance. In theory, dissonance reduction requires either our beliefs or behaviour to change. Generally, addicts take the path of least resistance. Our beliefs change and morph to accommodate our addictive behaviours.
1) At what point in your active addiction did you realize you had a problem? Did this create within you a sense of internal conflict?
I honestly believe the first time I realised I had a problem was on April 2nd 2019 which was the date of my last bet. That’s when I honestly said to myself that I have a problem and need help, then told my partner. Now, in saying that, there are a hell of a lot of red flags that I can talk about when looking back that should have been enough for me to realise I had a problem.
Spending hours of my time gambling is the one I will start off with, hours on end gambling online or when I was working spending my full lunch hour standing in a bookies. Sitting up until 3am or 4am betting on some shite tennis in Asia between two players no one has ever heard of. Not even anyone watching it at the court, there’s me streaming it and betting on it. When I would constantly gamble when out and about either with my family or when I was out with friends, I couldn’t do anything without my head being in my phone. So yeah, time spent on gambling should have been enough alone to make me realise.
Obviously the amount of money I was spending was an issue but more than that it was the fact I was borrowing money so I could gamble. More and more debt was being added simply so I could gamble. When I ran out of options to gamble from companies I started borrowing from friends and family, I even stole from the fantasy leagues that I run! That was crossing so many lines that I should have realised at that point but I didn’t want to. I wanted to continue gambling.
I would cool off, self exclude, withdraw after I won whatever “responsible gambling” measures there are I tried them but obviously I was so far past that stage that they were completely useless. I remember self excluding from Bet365 and Betfair for 5 years each and literally counting down the days until I could reopen them. The amount of times I withdrew from a bookmaker only to reverse the withdrawal and lose it all, I mean, countless times. I know that’s a familiar story for a lot of online gamblers and I hated it when I did it. So much so in fact that I stopped betting with bookmakers that I knew you could reverse the withdrawal. Instead, on the other sites, I would withdraw then sit and wait for it to hit my account so I could deposit it again.
Finally I will touch on this, and it’s not something I am proud of but it is simply a fact of how I felt back then. I loved gambling more than anything else in the whole wide world, more than my kids, my partner, my parents, my friends, my job, the list is endless. Gambling was the number one thing in my life and when that happens, when that is how strongly I felt about gambling, I should have realised I had a problem and needed help. Instead it took me until I was mentally broken to finally enter recovery.
2) After realizing you had a problem and before entering recovery, did you convince yourself that your behaviour was justifiable/excusable?
Again, because I feel like I had a problem and entered recovery at the same time I will share how I justified or explained my behaviour to myself when I was gambling. So I have time, money, responsible gambling and relationships.
Time wise I justified it that I was using my own down time to gamble and it wasn’t impacting on any other aspects of my life. This was clearly bollocks since I was gambling every minute I was in work, I have no idea how I have a job to be honest. I gambled non stop at home, but I will get to that when talking about relationships.
When it came to money it was easy to justify, it was my money! Only it wasn’t was it? I was spending money that could have been used on my kids or my partner. I was borrowing money that wasn’t mine to gamble or to replace money lost by gambling. Any money I borrowed was always paid back, well to friends and family anyways, until it wasn’t. Until I borrowed too much and couldn’t pay it back. Then I would lie and make up excuses or try to borrow more. I stole money from my partner when I used our savings to gamble. It wasn’t a lot of money but that isn’t the point, it’s the fact that I took that money, which was ours and didn’t ask her. That’s stealing but in my head I was just borrowing.
I would tell myself I could control my gambling, that I was in control. Sure I even self excluded from websites and I would use cooling off periods. I even stopped gambling for periods of time, a few weeks, a few months, nearly a year at one point. I always went back though because I was stopping because I had to. Either lack of money or I thought I was going to get found out. Debts needed paid that I couldn’t hide. I always felt that I was in control but in all honesty I was controlled by gambling.
Last but not least, relationships, and my justification was simple for this one, I was not hurting anyone with my behaviour. How could my kids or my partner be hurt by me gambling? It didn’t make sense to me, and again being totally honest it has only started to make sense to me in the last few weeks where I have had the opportunity through the GamCare chat room to be able to talk to spouses of compulsive gamblers. I now see the hurt that I have caused those closest to me, and I probably can’t see all of it. Shouting at my kids for no reason other than the fact I was having a bad day or had no money left to gamble. Making them feel like shit because I felt like shit. Letting my relationship with my partner fall apart to point it might never recover to what it used to be. As she told me recently, “you are so in touch with your emotions recently but you didn’t give a fuck about mine while you were sitting up all night doing what you were doing.” She’s not fucking wrong either. I barely spoke to my parents when I dropped my kids round for them to look after, I was too busy on my phone or thinking about gambling. I went round to their house a week or two after entering recovery and had a cup of coffee and they said to me it’s the most I have spoken to them in ages.
3) What happened to make you realize you needed to change your behaviour? What happened to your beliefs at that time?
I was mentally broken by gambling and I could sense my brain was flying me towards self destruction. April 2nd 2019 I was sitting in work, looking miserable, trying to work out how I would fix everything and my mate asked me if I was ok. It was the first time I said no, not really. So he said let’s go for a drink at lunchtime and it was the first time I opened up to someone about what I was going through. It was at that point I realised I needed to change my behaviour. Not just change my behaviour but change everything about my life. I was a mess and it was because of gambling. I didn’t know how or what I would do but I knew I needed to do something. All my bullshit reasons to justify my behaviours and actions were proven to be just that...bullshit. I knew I had to tell my partner and I was fucking terrified. I assumed she would kick me out of the house, I wouldn’t see my kids all the time, I had all these thoughts going through my head about what would happen and it was obviously all the worst possible scenario. Another thing I knew was that if I came out about this I would lose the one thing I loved the most and that wasn’t my two kids or my partner, that was gambling. That also terrified me. My mind was racing but I knew what I had to do. I realised my beliefs were totally fucked up and I realised that I was lying to myself. I was miserable and I needed help. I needed to stop digging, put the fucking shovel down and reach out for help.
I absolutely loved this topic and it really gives me plenty to think about when writing about it and for that I am grateful. I’m really enjoying the Brothers Osbourne at the moment and they have a song called “It Ain’t My Fault”. Although it has nothing to do with addiction the song reminds me of the sort of thinking I would have after I fucked up...again.

With Cheltenham Festival coming up, I thought I’d put together a comprehensive guide and overview for what is THE most profitable time for matched bettors.

So whether you have been doing matched betting for a while or you’re completely new to the concept, with a bit of luck this post should be interesting/useful.

2. Be Organised
This can be best summed up as - make sure that your money is where it needs to be before the end of the weekend prior to Cheltenham (7th & 8th March).

3. Go Easy Early

4. Odds Boosts & VIP

Additionally, make sure you check your email over the 4 days. There will be plenty of bookmakers handing out ‘tailored’ offers to their VIP members. VIP has a loose definition in the eyes of the bookmaker, so you’re likely to get a lot more of these than you think and they are often very lucrative.

5. Enjoy It
Sounds cliché but don’t let it stress you out. Making money is great but taking the week off work and then running yourself into the ground all week isn't worth it. Matched betting is a side earner – something to enjoy and be done in your spare time to earn you some extra cash. It should not feel like a job.

6. A Small Exchange Balance Is No Excuse!
Is it worth taking part with a really small bank like £500'ish?
Even if you just did the offers that guaranteed a profit, you’d still make around £250 and this would not require a massive exchange balance. So yes, it is absolutely still worth it.

What If I Am Gubbed by Most Bookmakers?
This is a very common question and not an unreasonable one either. After all it is incredibly frustrating to have your account with a bookie gubbed. This is even worse when a huge event like Cheltenham is coming up.
Honestly, it will restrict your ability to make money, but it is still possible to make a profit from Cheltenham.
Extra place strategies are worth looking at (on Heads&Heads Training). This is made possible because Extra place betting doesn’t rely on you using free offers. So, if the bookie has only restricted your use of free offers then this is your best option. Furthermore, if you are restricted from getting reload offers by a bookmaker, you should still be able to take advantage of odds boosts. So, keep an eye out for these on the Heads&Heads Forum.

Anything I Should Be Looking Out For?
One issue to be aware of is that of the smaller bookmakers offering very generous odds. If an offer looks too good to be true then you should be careful. This was particularly true a couple of years ago, when a lot of smaller bookies offered really good odds and then refused to pay out people’s winnings.
This problem is unlikely to occur again (happened in 2017), with bookmakers under the spotlight by legislators like never before. Should You Book Time Off Work?

Now, predictions may seem a bit useless as we are matched betting. However, knowing who the experts favour to win can help you pick a horse. Defi Du Seuil can be found quoted in the Champion Chase antepost betting and the early money has been promising. He has won 13 of his first 18 and those stats aren’t to be taken lightly, certainly not by backers.

Tiger Roll is a fans favourite but have we already seen the best of Tiger Roll? As it stands Tiger Roll is the antepost favourite to win the Cross Country Chase and is a short price at that.

So whether you have been doing matched betting for a while or you’re completely new to the concept, with a bit of luck this post should be interesting/useful.

Just a quick disclaimer. Throughout this guide I will be referencing Heads&Heads, however, this is not a promotional piece. 6. A Small Exchange Balance Is No Excuse!
Is it worth taking part with a really small bank like £500'ish?
Even if you just did the offers that guaranteed a profit, you’d still make around £250 and this would not require a massive exchange balance. So yes, it is absolutely still worth it.

What If I Am Gubbed by Most Bookmakers?
This is a very common question and not an unreasonable one either. After all it is incredibly frustrating to have your account with a bookie gubbed. This is even worse when a huge event like Cheltenham is coming up.

What If I Am Gubbed by Most Bookmakers?
This is a very common question and not an unreasonable one either. After all it is incredibly frustrating to have your account with a bookie gubbed. This is even worse when a huge event like Cheltenham is coming up.
Honestly, it will restrict your ability to make money, but it is still possible to make a profit from Cheltenham.
Extra place strategies are worth looking at (on Heads&Heads Training). This is made possible because Extra place betting doesn’t rely on you using free offers. So, if the bookie has only restricted your use of free offers then this is your best option. Furthermore, if you are restricted from getting reload offers by a bookmaker, you should still be able to take advantage of odds boosts. So, keep an eye out for these on the Heads&Heads Forum.

Anything I Should Be Looking Out For?
One issue to be aware of is that of the smaller bookmakers offering very generous odds. If an offer looks too good to be true then you should be careful. This was particularly true a couple of years ago, when a lot of smaller bookies offered really good odds and then refused to pay out people’s winnings.
This problem is unlikely to occur again (happened in 2017), with bookmakers under the spotlight by legislators like never before. Are you planning to take time off work during Cheltenham? This could be a great idea. As well as watching the races on TV, you can stay up to date with all of the offers during the day. However, we want to stress that taking time off work is by no means 'required' to make money during this week.
That said, speed will be key for so many of the opportunities during the festival. You may only have a small amount of time to place your bet or lose the opportunity. Being at home will, of course, make this a lot easier.

Simple answer really. The first day – Tuesday (10th March).

Now, predictions may seem a bit useless as we are matched betting. However, knowing who the experts favour to win can help you pick a horse. Defi Du Seuil
Defi Du Seuil can be found quoted in the Champion Chase antepost betting and the early money has been promising. He has won 13 of his first 18 and those stats aren’t to be taken lightly, certainly not by backers.

Tiger Roll
Tiger Roll is a fans favourite but have we already seen the best of Tiger Roll? As it stands Tiger Roll is the antepost favourite to win the Cross Country Chase and is a short price at that.
